Gastic Reflux
Learn what you can do about Gastric Reflux

Chest pain is one of the symptoms of gastric reflux, a condition also known as heartburn. This pain may feel like it is within your chest cavity, but it has nothing to do with the heart.

There are many causes for gastric reflux but the most common is acid. Acid is a problem in that it is caustic to unprotected parts of the anatomy and requires a lot of energy for the body to deal with it. These are separate conditions but are interrelated.

When acid leaks (refluxes) from the stomach it is very concentrated and will cause damage to the esophageal lining, which after repeated exposures develops into a wound. The common practice is to self-medicate with antacids or a natural home remedy.

It is wise to take gastric reflux seriously as pain of this nature should always be recognized as warning sign. It’s a bit like having a toothache - you can take something to get relief from the pain, but the underlying problem is still there.

After time the valve (LES) that separates the esophagus and the stomach will weaken, and if it doesn't work properly you will find that you have a chronic heartburn. The lining of your esophagus is much more delicate than that of your stomach, so it doesn't take much to build a lesion or ulcer.

Once the acids become irritating to the esophagus, you will develop an inflammation that is known as gastric esophageal reflux disease (GERD). With medical help this problem can be treated with a high rate of success, however, if the root cause remains, gastric reflux will return.

What Causes Gastric Reflux?

When you get gastric reflux, it is mostly caused by the habits of lifestyle. Eating late or having large portions will cause this to happen, as well, being overweight. By putting pressure on your stomach through activities or from being over weight will cause even more problems.

In addition, if you find yourself in stressful situations you will want to be concerned with gastric reflux. Stress is a big cause of gastric reflux, directly and indirectly. When you consume acidic or spicy foods, you will also trigger an attack. It helps to avoid any caffinated or carbonated drinks. This is because you may end up drinking yourself into a heartburn attack. Alcohol and caffeine both tend to relax the LES, which will be apparent by the pain.

Where to Look for The Answer?
